Big Island
The Big Island is a name that is used for the island of Hawaii to avoid confusion with the state of Hawaii. The state of Hawaii comprises all the islands, and for convenience, the island of Hawaii is often called just “The Big Island.” It is in fact the biggest of the Hawaiian islands, and it is contiually growing due to the active volcanoes present on the island.
